Save Money on Vacation
We found these money-saving vacation tips from Deborah Cicurel in a slideshow on MSN-Lifestyle.
Some of our favorites include:
Look for packages that bundle your flight, ground transportation, and hotel;
Keep an eye on your hotel, if there’s a free cancellation policy, and re-book if you can get something cheaper;
Avoid excess charges at the airport by saying no to frills and carefully complying with all luggage policies – weigh that suitcase!
Work around peak travel dates, especially school holidays and summer vacation, or wait until the end of summer when prices often drop;
Make lunch your ‘splash’ meal, instead of dinner (if you really want to watch the sunset or moonrise, while you dine, limit your order to appetizers in the evening);
Look for free or inexpensive attractions for your sight-seeing;
Make sure you know what your phone plan’s roaming charges are at your destination, otherwise you can rack up thousands in charges;
Be souvenir-savvy and shop all through your stay, then go back for that one item that you’ll always treasure.
