“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

Where will you go after the pandemic?

Travelers and travel professionals shared their plans and expectations for Christopher Elliott’s article for USA Today. Many of them have definite ideas of where they will travel… in 2022.

“The reality is that the world will reopen in phases,” says one travel adviser, “That will likely dictate where and when people travel again.” Planned locations include a cruise in the Adriatic, Parisian holidays, as well as Australia, Thailand, Greece, Mexico, Italy, England, Hawaii, The Dominican Republic, Bermuda, and many stateside destinations, especially to renew contact with long-separated family and friends. In short a mix of returning to old favorites and adventuring in exotic locales. But when?

It depends. “Defining the end of the pandemic will be different on different cases,” says another professional, “As a result traveling and its associated risks will vary between countries and individuals.”

All are agreed on one thing for themselves and their clients: They will travel again, and they’ll do it as soon as possible. The urge to travel is stronger than ever.
